Agastya Primary Years Programme ( Class I To V)
The AIS curriculum is designed to provide continuity, progression and smooth transition in learning from kindergarten to elementary school. It is devised keeping in mind the best research and practices across whole range of national/international systems. The programme encourages inquiry, critical thinking, exploration, observation, problem solving and competency in various skills.
The primary school curriculum offers an exciting and creative learning environment with an interdisciplinary appreciation of languages, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, as individual and integrated subjects. Hindi is taught as second language and third language is introduced at a later stage. At AIS, emphasis is given to individual, small group and whole group activities to improve child’s ability to work across all levels and develop their interpersonal and collaborative skills. There is a flexibility in our teaching and learning methodologies to ensure a well-balanced focus on both cognitive and emotional development.
Exposure to team and individual sports encourage sense of team spirit, and individual effort and accomplishment. PSHE (personal, social and health education) forms an integral part of holistic development of every student at school.The wide range of curriculum and co-curricular opportunities offered helps instil self -confidence and discipline in children. Students engage in field trips, excursions, activities, projects and presentations that provide experiential learning opportunities.
Arts, dance, drama, western and Indian music, pottery, yoga, promote well rounded development. Students are encouraged to participate in inter-house and inter-school events. Active learning techniques like free play, singing, dancing and cooking enhance their interest in learning.
Children’s engagement in social and community service programs help them learn morally and socially acceptable behavior that helps them to respond responsibly and also sensitize them to the needs of community and world around them. They visit centers for under privileged children, old age homes and orphanages to help and support them.
